words by Reid McLean Wiest, music by Torri Airhart
To give a little more,
and live a little more,
have more faith, let go of more fear,
to trust a little more,
and love a little more;
I resolve this year.
Oh Lord, please give me the strength
for what You call me to do.
To trust a little more,
and love a little more;
I resolve this year.
To pray a little more,
and play a little more,
try to laugh, and spread more cheer,
to forgive some more,
and just believe some more;
I resolve this year.
Oh Lord, please give me the grace
to act and be more like You.
To trust a little more,
and love a little more;
I resolve this year.
STORY: Our Christmas seasonal concert in HtH this year (2018-19) was unusual, having it on the 6th of January. Perhaps it was even a bit of a stretch to be calling it a Christmas concert at all, but more of a New Year’s concert. At New Year’s it is a common tradition to make resolutions, even though it is probably a more consistent tradition to break them! I was thinking about resolutions worth making when writing this song, as well as where the power to keep them comes from.
This is also a true HtH Composers Guild collaboration; Torri came up with the music, I added lyrics. It was performed by the founding four (Torri, Reid, Becky, Beth). - RMW
